When we began our project, we knew we had a challenge ahead of us. The construction of an auto parts website is not your typical estore. Our auto parts website we knew was going to have approximately 250,000 unique parts in its database. This does not allow the use of a Windows or MySQL database. We knew we needed to use a SQL database because of the size of the database and its field content. The ecommerce template that we chose was pre-coded in ASP language and supported the use of a SQL database. Our template was also built with a functional back-end office for product and customer administrative services. We knew before we got started that this template was fully-featured; but, after a few months of initial development, we are pleasantly surprised. The network of other developers and the team behind Ecommerce Templates is incredible. There are a host of tools available that can be added to enhance your site and there is a support service which can answer your technical call.
We also knew that the hosting needed to be full-service and reliable. We chose KoolWebDezign for our hosting service. KoolWebDezign is a reseller of GoDaddy products and services so we knew their service is reliable. We set up this new site on a Deluxe Hosting Plan at a price of $6.99 per month. We chose a Windows plaform which supports ASP program lanquage, set up a SQL database, loaded the template, ran the configuration instructions and we had a working site. With the use of FTP tools, we where then able to modify the logo, header, CSS style sheet, page content and more.
